The Broad is a contemporary art museum on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles, opened in 2015. Diller Scofidio + Renfro designed the building in collaboration with Gensler. Its porous exterior wraps galleries and collection storage, while the underside of the central storage volume shapes the lobby. South of the museum, the East West Bank Plaza was designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro with Hood Design Studio. An olive grove and open lawn form a public outdoor space beside the building. This archive entry brings the museum and its adjoining public space together as one project.
